About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Indianapolis at 850 Massachusetts Ave, Modita offers an exceptional Asian dining experience that artfully blends bold flavors and refined presentation. This sophisticated yet inviting restaurant specializes in a diverse selection of Asian-inspired dishes, where each bite tells a story of culinary craftsmanship and cultural fusion.

Modita’s menu is a treasure trove for food enthusiasts eager to explore both traditional and contemporary Asian flavors. Among the highlights are the irresistibly tender Pork Bao Buns, whose pillowy softness perfectly complements the savory filling; and the Mapo Tofu, a vegetarian delight that is rich, spicy, and deeply satisfying. Guests looking for a unique twist will adore the Korean Corn Dogs—crispy, flavorful, and an absolute crowd-pleaser.

The seafood offerings such as Salmon Uramaki Rolls and the meticulously prepared Tuna Nigiri showcase freshness and precision, accentuated by delicate touches like yuzu and ponzu. Meanwhile, meat lovers will delight in dishes such as the melt-in-your-mouth American Wagyu and the exquisite 6 Oz Japanese Wagyu, each bite rich with umami and cooked to perfection.

Starters like the Ginger Miso Salad and Fried Brussels Sprouts provide vibrant, fresh contrasts to the mains. For those with dietary preferences, Modita thoughtfully offers several gluten-free and vegetarian options, ensuring an inclusive dining experience.

The bar at Modita is equally impressive, featuring expertly crafted cocktails such as the smoky, robust Boulevardier and elegant Martinis, alongside refreshing non-alcoholic choices like the tangy Yuzu Bar and Coffee. Ending the meal on a sweet note, desserts like the creamy Mango Sorbet and indulgent Coca Cola Cake are a delightful treat.

Step inside Modita and you’re greeted by a beautifully designed interior that balances a modern, classy vibe with a relaxed and warm atmosphere. Soft lighting, tasteful decor, and thoughtfully arranged seating—from cozy booths to intimate tables—make it an ideal setting for everything from casual dinners to celebratory gatherings.

Customer reviews consistently praise the attentive and knowledgeable staff. As one diner noted, their server expertly guided them through menu favorites, enhancing the experience with personalized recommendations. While some have mentioned the pace can vary with larger parties, most agree the overall service is friendly and attentive, ensuring guests feel well cared for throughout their visit.

The food, too, garners high acclaim. Modita’s Mongolian beef is frequently described as the best one has ever tasted—tender, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with flavor. The fresh, crisp ginger miso salad offers a refreshing balance, setting the stage for the rich mains that follow. Pork Bao Buns repeatedly steal the show, with many guests willing to return just for a taste of these delectable bites.

Really beautiful restaurant! Really amazing staff. The staff were very good on checking on us and filling up our water. We got a good amount of food. To me the food was okay. My other group found it good. Maybe its just not my style. But i definitely recommend people to go and try! There are some steps to some tables! There were some booths. The bathrooms were nice and clean. There was 4 individual bathrooms which is very nice! Music isnt loud at all which is great. Great for conversation!,

Absolutely outstanding establishment. Our server, Austin (Dawson!), generously took time to explain each section of the menu, pointing out favorites and details along the way. The Wagyu Nigiri was incredible, and was truly a one of a kind flavor. The Tuna Roll was also outstanding. Service was consistently quick. Overall, a wonderful place I will certainly return to.

We came here last night for my sister in laws birthday. Every dish we had was great and so were the drinks. Our waiter was very nice he was just slow at taking our orders, getting things out etc. We had a party of 10 so I know that’s a big table and a lot of work but it took him almost a full 45 minutes to take our appetizer order, we were there from 7:30-10:15pm. The ube ice cream is phenomenal, a must order!!!

Great experience over all the Pork Bao buns were by far the best thing we got and I would come back just to get them. The Mongolian beef noodles were also very good. My only complaint is the serving size for both entrees was a little smaller than expected. Would definitely go again 4.5/5

Hands down the BEST Mongolian beef we have ever had in our lives. No exaggeration — it was tender, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and just melted in your mouth. The ginger salad was fresh and vibrant, a perfect balance to the richness of the main dish. The atmosphere at Modita is classy but relaxed, and the ambiance is on point — warm lighting, great music, and a beautifully designed space that sets the tone for a memorable night out. Service was attentive and friendly from start to finish. We had an amazing time and seriously can’t wait to go back. Modita just raised the bar.

Had a 7:30 reservation and was seated right away. Took a while for the server to come around. Ordered Bao Buns and Chicken Udon Noodles. Took forever to get our food (20+ minutes). Very disappointed in the bao buns - they were served cold. Also the slaw completely overpowered the pork belly. The pork by itself was delicious. The entrees really saved the evening. Chicken udon noodles absolutely delicious - fantastic. A great spot if you happen to be nearby, but wouldn't go oht of my way.
